CPS-Pumps Repair Capabilities
This is a quick Blog detailing a repair of a pump from the field using the CPS-Pumps CMF mixed flow product line and existing customer supplied parts.
This pump is used in a cooling tower application and uses flanged column with an existing flanged discharge head. This simple repair shows the flexibility that clients have with CPS-Pumps when it comes to repairing product from the field. This pump is using a 18CMFL single stage mixed flow bowl assembly. CPS-Pumps provided new flanged 16″ column with weld-in column spiders for shaft support. These weld-in spiders have a cutlass rubber bearing insert that can be replaced when the need arises.
CMF Flow & Pressure Characteristics
Flows To: 40,000 GPM (11,350 m³/hr)
Heads To: 150+ Feet (31+ m)
Temperatures To: 200ºF (92ºC)
Speed Ranges: 445 RPM To 1800 RPM

The discharge head is an existing fabricated steel head that was sand blasted with new primer and finish coat applied. The existing stuffing box was also re-built by inserting a new bearing and packing supplied by CPS-Pumps. The top shaft was engineered to terminate at a certain spot in the head and this dimension was matched for easy re-installation in the field.
Keep in mind that re-bowling is yet another option for the entire vertical turbine (CVT), axial flow (CAF) and mixed flow (CMF) product lines. This option makes for a quick and easy replacement of competitor product.
