CPS-Pumps Repair Capability

Repairs Using Existing Parts

One of the most flexible features of the CVT vertical turbine product line is the ability to supply just a bowl assembly when doing repairs.  In other situations CPS-Pumps can supply the bowl assembly and column assembly replacing all shafting and bearings.  One of the key issues with re-installing the equipment is making the discharge connection match what is already in the field.  No one pump manufacturer has a dimensionally interchangeable cast iron discharge head.  In a situation where the existing cast iron head cannot be re-used, a fabricated discharge head can be supplied but at a significantly higher price and a longer lead-time.

This article focuses on a short set turbine with a completely destroyed bowl assembly.  Due to a very tight job site, the customer cannot easily change the location of the discharge piping and wanted to reuse the existing head if possible.  As the discharge head was in pretty good condition, CPS-Pumps refurbished the head, packing housing and hangar flange and painted it to look great.  The complete bowl assembly and column assembly were re-engineered to match the existing discharge head and overall length.  Coupled with a new motor, this golf course client essentially gets a new pump assembly without having to change any of the discharge piping.

When a job site condition requires this type of repair, CPS-Pumps has blank dimensional drawings that can be filled in from the field to allow an exact match to the existing site conditions.  This documentation allows for an easy transition and a quick repair minimizing downtime and getting the client back up and running in the shortest possible time.
